Shadow Strider:

Shadow Striders, born from the First Shadow who wanted to become humans and escape the numbness. They wished to become physical; do deeds and not merely watch as the world grows old. They are shadows, but are still human, physically. They use shadows as portals, and use their blood to enhance their powers. Others say there is no difference between a human and a strider, but when the moon is high and shining bright, a strider is said to have eyes that glow red with mad bloodlust. Eons have passed, and Shadow Striders have forgotten their heritage. But their prowess...unrivalled, coveted, everstill.
Human:
Woot, I'm a plain human.
Physical Abilities:
Ofcourse, the "unmatched" speed of assassins. Stealth. Acrobatics. Trained in combat. Excellent accuracy with long range weapons. (i.e. Bows, guns, throwing objects)
Magical Abilities:
Shadow Striding: Allows the Strider to use shadows as portals.
Engulf: Allows the Strider to make an illusion of the surroundings, turning it pitch black and making it impossible for the opponent to see, or hear.

History:
"My sweet, they know!"
"Fear not, my darli-"
"They know what you are! What Liyah is!"
"They will not have her. I assure you, Lady Windamier."
"My sweet, what will we do? Why, they will certainly...."
.......
"Tempest, darling gal, do you wish to die?"
"No, papa."
Lady Amalia Tempest Windamier, Lady de Windamier of the Court of Astorika, and only daughter of Lord and Lady Windamier of the Astorikan Court. After the royal family discovered that she was a Shadow, they arranged for her to be wed to the Prince of Astorika in order to save her family from death. Call it a "fair" trade, if you will. Amalia was only six when this arrangement was made. Her father helped her run away. She was without provision-aside from a sword her father presented her- and a small orb that was darker than night itself, fashioned into a necklace the eve she ran away. Lord Orion of St. Yves took her into his care. His shadowed business was training younglings to become instruments of death, and so "Liyah", the name she first spoke when asked for her identity, became an assassin. Liyah trained in the way of the dagger, and of throwing stars and knives. By the age of seventeen, Lord Orion sent her on a mission that guaranteed her right of leave from the House of St. Yves. She was to assassinate the Prince of Astorika, whom she was bethrothed to. She accepted (almost eagerly) and in six months, after the designation, she managed to sew herself into the royal society. Everyone knew her as Lady Vanessa of St. Yves, wife of Lord Orion. On the night of the Prince's twenty-fifth birthday, she made her attempt at his death. Using all of her knowledge of the Prince's habits, she masqueraded as a castle maid, she slipped a potent sleeping pill into his wine, and awaited his slumber. Unfortunately, before she was able to decapitate him in his sleep, Avis (ah-vis), the Prince's personal bodyguard, parried her dagger, knocked her unconscious, and brought her to his chambers. There, her identity was revealed. She retold her story. Of how she once was Lady Amalia Tempest Windamier, her cruel fate at the hands of one Lord de St. Yves, and her reason for needing to kill the Prince. She thought he would definitely expose her and she would be condemened for high treason, but Avis, stricken by her beauty, released her. They became lovers, but the Prince soon realized what "Vanessa" truly was: a Walker of Shadows, one who is blessed with power. Fearing for her safety, Avis snuck her out of the country, bidding her never to return, and that one day, he would come to find her.
A year later, she arrives in the city of Linain of Aremdee. Wandering in the vast empire, she ends up in Aithen. In this empire, ruled by money, corruption, and Balthatos, she resides in Aithen, gambling her money away, pilfering those who are unaware, and, in order to
make use of her skills, she lives as a mercenary for hire.
